You may not have prostate cancer, but chances are you love someone who does or will.
“Every month, three groups of people affected by prostate cancer walk through our doors. Caregivers who are exhausted. Survivors who want to give back. And people who just got the news and don’t know what comes next. We rent the space that makes this possible. Help us keep the lights on.”
That is where RK found himself. Healthy, active, doing everything right. Then, a diagnosis that changed everything overnight. The months that followed were filled with fatigue, uncertainty, and long stretches of waiting for answers. Beside him, his partner carried just as much fear, quietly trying to stay strong, with few places to turn for support. Then they found PROSTAID Calgary. And slowly, things began to feel a little less overwhelming.
For over 30 years, PROSTAID Calgary has been the community that shows up.
When a diagnosis arrives and the system says wait, we don’t. With over 900 members, 181 educational videos, and a monthly journal reaching over 1,300 people across Calgary and Southern Alberta, we’ve built something rare — a place where no one has to figure this out alone.
Our meetings are free. Our doors are open. And everyone who walks through them is welcomed by someone who has been exactly where they are standing.
We support the whole family, not just the patient.
But none of this runs on its own. PROSTAID Calgary is funded entirely by private donations — no government funding, no guaranteed income. Just people who believe that no family should face prostate cancer alone.
Will you make a gift today? Here is what your support makes possible.
Community Supporter, $25/month: Sometimes people just need a place to go. Your $25 a month helps keep a support group running — a room where men and families can speak freely, find answers, and feel a little less alone. That door stays open because of you.
Meeting Sponsor, $250/month: A prostate cancer diagnosis doesn’t just affect one person — it ripples through families. Your $250 covers a full month of space where men, partners, and caregivers can come together, speak honestly, and find reassurance when they need it most. Because no one should have to face this alone.
Quarterly Partner, $500: A diagnosis can make the months ahead feel uncertain. Your $500 sponsors three months of support group meetings — a steady, familiar place where men, partners, and caregivers can return, reconnect, and remind each other they’re not alone. Some gifts show up once. This one keeps showing up.
Annual Sustainer, $3,000: A year is a long time to face something hard. Your $3,000 keeps all three support groups running for twelve full months — so whenever someone is ready to ask for help, there’s a place waiting. Month after month, your support means no one has to walk through this alone.
Event Co-Sponsor,$7,500: Not everyone finds us through a meeting. Sometimes it’s an event — a room full of people, a conversation overheard, a moment that makes someone feel less alone for the first time. Your $7,500 sponsors one of our two annual gatherings, creating space for families to learn, connect, and take that first step toward support.
Title Sponsor, $15,000: Some gifts change what’s possible. Your $15,000 funds both annual events in full — creating space where the whole community comes together, where families find answers, and where someone who felt completely alone realizes they aren’t. Your name carries that forward. Every event. Every year.
“Joining PROSTAID Calgary gave me a safe place to share my experiences and learn from others facing similar challenges. The support and knowledge I gained are invaluable.” B.S., PROSTAID Calgary member.
Today, RK is cycling again. His PSA is stable. He and his partner credit PROSTAID Calgary with giving them both a place to land when they had nowhere else to go.
That is what your gift makes possible. Not just information. Not just a meeting. A family that finds its footing again.
Imagine a Calgary where every man who hears those words knows exactly where to go. Where his partner has a room full of people who understand. Where the next generation of men gets tested early enough that treatment is a choice, not a crisis. That is what we are building, one gift, one meeting, one family at a time.
